Dietetics
A dietitian is an expert in dietetics—the science of human nutrition and the regulation of diet. Dietitians tailor nutrition plans to a person's medical condition and individual needs. They are regulated healthcare professionals qualified to assess, diagnose, and treat nutrition-related problems.
Dietitian nutritionists use nutrition and food science to help people improve their health. Nutrition and dietetic technicians work with dietitian nutritionists to provide patient care and consultation. Both may also provide general nutrition education.
Nutrition Support
Dietitians provide food and nutrition information, support people in improving their health, and offer advice on nutrition-related matters. They can also tailor diets to help manage conditions such as:
- Diabetes
- Heart disease
- Overweight and obesity
- Cancer
- Food allergies and intolerances
